Centered on God

I have been trying to figure out how to help the young people I work with connect with God. I have been trying to lead by example and provide as many opportunities for students to worship, study God's word, fellowship and outreach. I am suspecting now though that some young people may not have the skills needed to participate in spiritual activities.

The first skill I would like to start with is focus. With all the distractions of the world, focus is becoming a lost skill. Focusing on God, whom we cannot connect with using our senses, can be especially challenging.

So, my idea, the first one, anyway is: gather together in a circle, facing each other. Public worship is a group activity with everyone focusing on one person, God. Music starts playing. It should build over time. Start small, maybe 15 minutes. One person, the worship guide will walk along the outside of the circle and talk. That person will share scripture, encourage the participants to focus on God and perhaps prophesy over them.

Practice focus. It is a skill and one that needs to be developed if it is to be useful. In the fog of distractions that clouds our world, focus is what will help us find the path we are to walk.

Be careful in the fog that you don't walk off a cliff.

I will work on more ideas to help build a successful Christian life. If you have any ideas, please leave comments.

May God help you see, who you are meant to be.
